During the seventeenth century, gilded and opulent Baroque with its profusion of ornamentation was furniture maker’s main source of inspiration, while Rococo and Neoclassicism spread throughout Western Europe during the eighteenth century.
The nineteenth century is usually linked with revival styles such as Gothic, Neoclassics and Rococo. Many of these styles are still popular, either for the classical ambience or as an effective contrast in a contemporary interior.
