Wines

Since time immemorial, the drinking of wine has been firmly embedded in the Mediterranean way of life. A feature of ancient Greek and Roman civilisations, the god Dionysus, or Bacchus, invited celebration with wine. Throughout the Middle Ages, due to its significance in the Christian religion, European monasteries improved vine growing techniques and wine making. It was also regarded safer to drink wine than to drink water and it became integral to everyday life throughout the world. Today, this beverage is still very much revered due to its ever-changing character, so inextricably linked to the land, people and culture which created it.

With wine production taking place right across the world, from Chile to South Africa to New Zealand and USA, there has never been so much choice when it comes to purchasing wine.
